In October of 2006, the Florida Cooperative Extension Service, the University of Georgia, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission hosted the 2nd Quail Management Shortcourse in Monticello, Florida. The purpose of the Quail Management Shortcourse was to educate landowners, managers, hunters, and quail enthusiasts on the ecology and management of bobwhite quail in Florida using science-based information from a variety of sources, including landowners, the hunting industry, academia, non-governmental organizations, and natural resource agencies.
